Kitty Crowther
Originally from Saffron Walden, in Essex, I moved to East Yorkshire in 2003 to study at the University of Hull and quickly fell in love with this beautiful part of the country. After graduating and working within a variety of corporate sectors including: events, media, marketing, finance and then education. I completed my teacher training in Lower Primary at York St John University, in 2015, and went on to teach in several schools.
Education has always been close to my heart and after leaving the classroom in 2020, I continued to stay within the sector, working remotely for Natterhub: an online, safe-gated media platform designed to support children’s digital wellbeing and online safety.
In December 2022, after several visits to the Yorkshire Dales with my rescue dog, Kali, I decided to make the move permanently. I now live in Upper Wharfedale, where I help to run Cozy Holiday Cottages (from January 2025), my partner’s (Jon) growing business offering dog-friendly stays across the Yorkshire Dales.
I’m passionate about nurturing confidence, creativity, and curiosity in young people, and I believe strongly in the importance of real-world, experiential learning and accessing outdoor learning as much as possible - something the Dales offers in abundance. I’m excited to play a small part in supporting Hawes Primary’s continued growth and its vital role at the heart of our wonderful community.
I like watching live music at local venues, when possible and reading as well as cooking, baking and most importantly walking in the Yorkshire Dales, with my rescue dog, Kali.
I’m delighted to serve as a co-opted governor at Hawes Primary School and to support such a dedicated team in providing the very best opportunities for every child in our community.
